I don’t think this movie is going to be horrible, but it’s definitely not going to be original. Two movies came to mind right away, Judge Dredd and Equilibrium. Both have the dystopian society vibe to them.
I was reminded of Judge Dredd because of the layout of the city: big wall keeping everyone in from the wasteland around it. Then the main character somehow falls out of grace with the ruling class then goes outside the wall where he appears to discover not everything is how the ruling class depicts it to be.
I have heard about the Graphic Novel from a friend, and he seems to have enjoyed the story. How well that transfers to the movie is anyone’s guess (I will not mention Last Airbender here, as the cartoon is 1000 times better).
I would go see this in the theater if my friends wanted to as well because of it reminding me of Judge Dredd and Equilibrium.
