Snack Size Review: The Source Code

Our own Tom Shaggy had the opportunity to see The Source Code in the theaters recently and decided to share his thoughts with us. Here is his Snack Size Review.

The Source Code

The Source Code is basically an action packed Ground Hog Day that probably would have been better off written as a short story rather than made into a feature film.  Sorry Jake, it’s not you, nor you Michelle, it’s just nearly impossible to take 8 minutes of time and stretch it across an hour and a half.  I had high hopes for this movie and much to my dismay, the trailer was much better than the actual movie.

The science behind the movie, which I have read is not so far fetched, is very interesting, but the story moves too quickly and you don’t really get a chance to come to fully “love” the main characters played by Jake Gyllenhal and Michelle Monaghan.  I wasn’t afraid of the antagonist, nor did I care at all what happened to his character.  Details are revealed too quickly, and as such, the ending becomes entirely too predictable.

Bottom Line

Is The Source Code entertaining? Absolutely, but this movie does not require you to see it in the theater.  Save it for a rainy afternoon when you can watch it on your high definition television from the comfort of your own recliner and an ice cold beer.

Have you seen The Source Code? What give us your Snack Sized Review in the comments below!
